B&A Group were proud to support the Global MSC Security Conference last week, in helping Meningitis Now become its chosen charity for the exhibition, an annual event for professionals operating in all areas of the surveillance industry. The event was held at the Bristol Hotel on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th October and included a fundraising dinner, hosted by Managing Director Derek Maltby.
After dinner there was a fund-raising raffle and special auction. Many exhibitors had generously contributed to the raffle.
B&A Group contributed a Balloon Flight at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta in their B&A / Meningitis Balloon to be flown by our pilot Rob Clements. The Bristol Hotel contributed to this with a night’s stay for the lucky winner.
Bidding went on apace encouraged by Derek, a fellow balloon pilot. The hammer went down at £400, the lucky winner Mark Rees from 360 Vision Technology. Mark then very generously donated the flight back to Meningitis Now and another bid of £375 was submitted by Andrew Bottomley of Global MSC. A fantastic £775 was raised.
The DSSL group contributed the second auction prize, a £500 voucher for the DeVere Hotel Group.
A fabulous £3,558 was raised on the night.
All funds raised will contribute towards B&A Groups target of raising £100,000. We have already raised more than £85k to help fund the pioneering vaccine programme taking place in the Spencer Dayman Laboratory at the University of Bristol. Their goal, to eradicate all strains of the meningitis virus.
Steve Dayman commented:
We are most grateful to Global MSC security for their wonderful support and to the B&A Group for nominating Meningitis Now as the beneficiary of the Global MSC Security’s annual fundraising dinner. In these difficult times for the charity sector donations such as this will help us to continue our vital work to prevent meningitis, raise awareness about the disease and support families affected. It really makes a difference.
Derek Maltby commented:
Each year the surveillance industry proves its generosity, with so many fundraising events cancelled and postponed due to Coronavirus, it has never been more important to support our charities. We were delighted to be partnering with Meningitis Now as our 2021 chosen charity and support the Bristol & Avon group to help them achieve their £100,000 fundraising target for this worthwhile charity. This is the second highest amount we have ever raised; people were moved by the touching stories and what Steve and Gloria have been through. A very worthy cause and our pleasure to support.
The Bristol and Avon Group would like to thank Global MSC Security and all those attending the conference for their fantastic support.
