This month, we’re excited to highlight one of our newest team members, Ben Woodman, who joined the B&A Group in July 2024 as our Transport Planner for Stone Supplies.
In his short time with us, Ben has already made a significant impact, helping to streamline logistics and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our operations. His journey to B&A is a testament to his dedication and adaptability, qualities that have made him a key part of our team in just a few months.
Ben’s professional journey started in the world of construction, where he spent time labouring on building sites. However, his passion for logistics and operations quickly grew, leading him to a role in aquatics. There, Ben worked his way up to running warehousing and logistics for the entire site, gaining invaluable experience in managing supply chains and day-to-day operations.
His experience doesn’t stop there - Ben then went on to take a logistics role at the British Red Cross, where he was responsible for coordinating deliveries and managing transport logistics, often under challenging conditions. This wide-ranging experience across industries has equipped Ben with a diverse skill set and a practical approach to problem-solving, both of which he now brings to B&A Group.
As the Transport Planner for Stone Supplies, Ben is responsible for coordinating and managing the logistics of our stone supply operations. His role requires meticulous planning and the ability to handle changes and challenges as soon as they arise. From scheduling deliveries to navigating unexpected disruptions, Ben ensures that everything runs smoothly, no matter the situation. As Ben says:
“It’s always engaging, with lots going on at all times, and new challenges every day. There's also a great team here at B&A who are all looking to do the best they can every day.”
Ben’s role at B&A is certainly not for the faint-hearted. The transport and logistics sector is fast-paced, requiring flexibility and quick decision-making. However, it’s these exact qualities that Ben thrives on. Each day is different from the last, bringing a new set of challenges — whether that’s coordinating deliveries, resolving logistical issues, or working to ensure that our clients’ needs are met to the highest standard. His ability to remain calm under pressure and find creative solutions to problems has already proven invaluable to the team.
Beyond the logistics, one of the aspects that Ben values most about working at B&A Group is the company’s culture.
“The team of people working in the same office is a good mix of people and personalities.
They're all trying to do better every day and always working toward delivering for our customers,” he says. The collaborative and supportive nature of the B&A team has helped Ben settle into his role quickly, and he’s already become an integral part of the wider operations. “The company as a whole is always making big promises and delivering on those promises, which is inspiring to be a part of,” he shares.
When Ben’s off the clock, he likes to enjoy his downtime with quieter activities. He’s an avid computer gamer and finds it to be a great way to relax after a busy day of planning and coordinating. In addition to gaming, Ben is also trying to get back into running, although he admits that it feels more like hard work than a hobby at the moment!
We’re incredibly fortunate to have Ben as part of our team at B&A Group. His dedication, expertise, and willingness to tackle new challenges head-on have already made a huge difference to our operations, and we’re excited to see how he continues to grow and excel in his role.
